A star-studded lineup is expected for a fundraiser called the Converse and Cocktail Dress Soiree at the Virgin Hotel in Dallas on Sept. 20.
Attendees will include Hollywood actors and producers Larenz, LaRon and Lahmard Tate; actor, comedian and DJ Flex Alexander; singer Nicci Gilbert-Daniels of the R&B group Brownstone; Laterras R. Whitfield, host of the relationship podcast Dear Future Wifey; and Rose Rock, mother of comedian and actor Chris Rock.
Tickets for the event are sold out, according to its Eventbrite page.
The event will kick off the Motivated Mom Retreat, which runs from Sept. 20 to 22 and “aims to empower North Texas moms in mind, body and spirit,” according to a news release.
The Friday event will raise funds for A Chance to Learn, a nonprofit focused on building skills important for children ages 0 to 5. It will also honor motivated moms and dads across Texas active in areas including education, philanthropy, ministry and business.
“Each of the honorees holds a special place in our hearts,” said Latoyia Dennis, the host of the Motivated Mom Retreat, in a prepared statement. “We are beyond proud of them and the outstanding work they do every day.”

As part of the event, the Tate brothers will lead a panel of celebrity dads. Over almost four decades, the brothers have collectively worked on TV and film projects including 21 Jump Street, Menace II Society, Love Jones, Power, Crash, Barbershop, All-American and the forthcoming Michael Jackson biopic Michael.
Alexander will be the featured DJ, and comedian Jason Earls will provide entertainment.
The retreat continues on Sept. 21 and 22 with events including a maternal health panel and discussions on wealth building, mental health, wellness and self-care. There will also be a number of guest speakers, including Deidra “DJ Spinderella” Roper, a former member of the hip-hop group Salt-N-Pepa.
